Bridgetown salutes their service
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson has congratulated the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes on receiving a funding boost to help commemorate its proud history of service in the Australian Defence Force.
Mr Wilson said the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes had received $2,000 in funding under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants programme to install two Battle of the Somme commemorative plaques in the ‘Somme Creek Parklands’.
“I congratulate the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes on its efforts to recognise the invaluable contribution of Australian servicemen and women past and present and ensure the next generation appreciates their service and sacrifice.”
The Saluting Their Service grants programme helps the Australian community from all walks of life to contribute to the commemoration of those who have served and continue to serve our nation.
The grants assist community and ex-service organisations in a range of activities including restoring wartime memorabilia, establishing new commemorative plaques, and upgrades to local rolls of honour.
