Rick Wilson invites Esperance community to NBN forum
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson MP believes a community forum in Esperance will help residents better understand NBN Co’s plans for the town.
Being held in partnership with the Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Shire of Esperance, South East Premium Wheat Growers Association, NBN Co and Telstra, the forum will take place at the Esperance Civic Centre on Friday 21 August.
Mr Wilson said the forum will provide residents an opportunity to learn about the NBN Co’s exciting plans in the community and also discuss the recent mobile phone towers announcement.
“I am keen to hear first-hand about internet connectivity issues and explain how the NBN will help resolve these,” Mr Wilson said.
“Mobile phone black spots are also a big issue in Esperance so residents will also hear how the 11 new or upgraded mobile phone towers will alleviate mobile phone black spots across the Esperance region.”
Forum attendees will not only hear from Mr Wilson but will also hear from NBN Co and Telstra representatives, with an opportunity for questions at the end.
“Poor internet connectivity is an issue raised with me all the time as I travel around the electorate. I’m pleased Esperance residents are not being forgotten in the rollout plan and will soon receive the best internet connectivity going around.”
“The rollout plan shows our commitment to rural and regional Australia, providing a combination of fixed line, fixed wireless and satellite technologies to deliver fast broadband for all Australians,” he said.
The long term satellite service, which will see two satellites launched in late 2015 and accessible from 2016, will serve the most remote and inaccessible premises in the country.
