Funding available to help young carers study
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson MP today encouraged young carers up to 25 years of age to apply for funding under the 2016 Young Carer Bursary Programme.
Mr Wilson said the Government is delivering 333 bursaries for young carers, worth $3,000 each, to help them continue their education.
“We recognise that young carers play a vital role in the lives of many people and often have to juggle part-time work and caring responsibilities with their study.
“Last year three young careers received a bursary in O’Connor.
“I urge young carers to apply for this support.”
The Coalition is providing $3.5 million over three years to the Young Carer Bursary Programme, which is administered by Carers Australia.
It was an election commitment of the Coalition Government, which was delivered in the 2014-15 Budget.
Applications for the 2016 bursaries close on 28 September.
