Funding success for Albany Men’s Shed
14 December 2015: Albany locals will benefit from a Federal Government funding announcement for the Albany MenShed.
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson said funding under the Veteran and Community Grants programme worth $25,128 had been secured by the group.
The funding will enable the MenShed to purchase tools and equipment which will enhance the programs provided to members.
“I congratulate Albany MenShed on its commitment to improving the lives of the community in practical and tangible ways,” Mr Wilson said.
“This funding will have knock-on effects for the local community, which has contributed to making this invaluable project a reality.
“The dedication and hard work of organisations such as the Albany MenShed ensures men receive services, support and opportunities that allow them to continue active roles in their local communities.”
Albany MenShed chairman Michael Taylor said he was “happy” the MenShed received the funding.
“We got everything we requested, and it will make the shed more comfortable for the guys in there.”
The Albany MenShed has 35 veterans.
In this round, Veteran and Community Grants worth over $822,000 have been awarded to 45 projects across the country.
