Have your say on our National Landcare Programme
: Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson MP has announced a community information session will be held in Albany giving people the opportunity to have their say on how the National Landcare Programme could benefit the local area.
The Australian Government is encouraging participation from all types of people and organisations including farmers, environmental groups, local Landcare bodies and natural resource management organisations.
Mr Wilson said the sessions will also talk about the opportunities on offer in the National Landcare Programme and how to get involved in local projects.
“We want to work with regional natural resource management organisations, Landcare groups, community organisations and individuals to deliver simple, local and long-term solutions to environmental challenges.
“For those that might not be able to attend the Albany information sessions, the consultation survey will also be available online which will make it easier for those in regional and remote areas to have their voices heard,” he said.
The Australian Government is committed to empowering local communities to undertake projects with long-term benefits, based on local and regional priorities.
“The consultation survey is a great opportunity for communities to help shape the programme and I encourage people to participate in this process,” Mr Wilson said.
The Albany information session will be held at the University of Western Australia, Science Building, 35 Stirling Terrace, on Thursday 7 August from 9:30am to 11:30am.
