Katanning
A million-dollar infrastructure boost in 2021 that included:
- upgrades to water standpipes throughout the shire;
- expanding the dam that waters Katanning Leisure Centre;
- installing infrastructure and developing a marketing campaign to promote Katanning to visitors;
- building paths between Katanning Caravan Park, Austral Terrace and Katanning’s all-ages playground.
Also:
- $200,000 to replace the paving on Austral Terrace;
- $100,000 to instal CCTV at Piesse Park and other public areas;
- $80,000 to instal energy efficient lighting at Katanning leisure centre;
- $70,000 to instal solar street lights at the Marmion Street intersection;
- $68,046 for a driver reviver trailer to be positioned at the entrance of the town of Katanning;
- $40,728 for Katanning Land Conservation District Committee to revegetate land and erect 4.75km of environmental fencing and nest boxes for vulnerable Red Tailed Phascogales after an intense bushfire hit Katanning in September, 2020;
- $40,000 to instal water tanks at Round Drive to assist fire fighting;
- $30,000 to resurface the basketball court at Prosser Park;
- $20,000 for better signs for driver reviver locations in the shire;
- $7238 for Katanning Environmental Inc. to monitor the locally endangered Red–Tailed Phascogale population through a citizen scientist program.
