Three Driver Reviver sites in the Goldfields-Esperance Region have received funding under the first round of the Commonwealth Government’s Driver Reviver Program.

Funding will be used to install much-needed signs promoting road safety messaging and raising awareness of life-saving rest sites.

Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson said the funding was fantastic news for communities, with travel having recommenced as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

“Two Driver Reviver sites at Coolgardie and one at Esperance have received federal funding to invest in high-impact signs raising awareness of nearby rest facilities and keeping road safety at the front of drivers’ minds,” Mr Wilson said.

“This will support their vital work providing a much-needed break and cuppa for our drivers, their families and friends, which helps keep all our road users safe by tackling driver fatigue.”

“This comes at a critical time for these Driver Reviver sites, which have started opening to the community again as COVID-19 travel restrictions ease and more people get back on our roads, including for long trips during peak holiday periods.”

34 Driver Reviver locations across the nation have received funding in this round from the Australian Government.

MEET RICK

I was inspired to run for Parliament following my involvement in a decade-long campaign to deregulate the wheat industry, which brought about the end of the Australia Wheat Board’s monopoly.

“I stand proudly for the Liberal philosophy of free markets, vigorous competition, small government and individual responsibility. These are the principles that guide me in my life and in this place. My track record in public life shows clearly that I am prepared to stand up for those principles.”

“To the electors of O'Connor, I reiterate the commitment that I have made to work tirelessly on your behalf, to always be frank and honest about the challenges we face, and to work cooperatively and collaboratively to improve the lives of the people who live in the greatest part of the greatest nation on earth”
