Grant for Greenbushes Men’s Shed
The Greenbushes Men’s Shed has been awarded a grant of $3700 from the Morrison Government for tools and equipment under round 18 of the National Shed Development Program.
Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson today congratulated the Men’s Shed for its successful application for the grant.
“Men are often the last ones to make their health and wellbeing a priority. It’s imperative that we do what we can to ensure they get the assistance they need and deserve,” he said.
“The Greenbushes shed offers significant support to local men who need a bit of space and some friendly, easy-going company.
“Our Government recognises these benefits and is investing a total of $5.1 million over three years to the national men’s sheds movement.”
Greenbushes Men’s Shed will use its government grant to purchase tools and equipment, including a laptop computer and software, clamps, dust extraction, sign maker templates and a vertical freezer.
“One of the great successes of Men’s Sheds is that they provide a forum for men to talk about health issues and encourage men to take action on their health issues, Mr Wilson said.”
Heath Minister Greg Hunt said feeling part of a social group is important to our emotional and mental health.
“Every day Men’s Sheds across Australia and in the Greenbushes provide men with an opportunity for companionship and support within their community,” Minister Hunt said.
The Men’s Shed grants programme provides funding for health improvement activities, the purchase of tools and equipment, community projects and training, and for building maintenance and development.
