Mobile coverage boosted at Darkan
People living and travelling through Darkan will now have better phone service to make calls, browse the internet and stay connected with family and friends.
The new mobile base station turned on recently will provide significantly improved 3G and 4G mobile coverage to Darkan and the surrounding area.
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson said the switch on of the new mobile base station under the Mobile Black Spot Program reflects the Government’s commitment to improve connectivity in the regions.
“This significant investment as part of the Mobile Black Spot Program means that people living, working and travelling in the Wheatbelt will now have better mobile coverage.” Mr Wilson said.
“The Mobile Black Spot Program is particularly important for our emergency services as it provides an alternative communications option if another network goes down during an emergency situation.
“The first five rounds of the Mobile Black Spot Program are funding 112 mobile base stations in O’Connor, with more than 80 of these already on air providing much needed mobile connectivity to rural and regional areas.”
“Not only will this tower make it easier for people to stay connected to family and friends, it will also make it easier to do business and access education.”
“I’m very pleased that local residents and businesses will now have better service from this tower.”
