Supporting Our Veterans and Community

Federal Member for O’Connor, Rick Wilson today announced a community project to support local veterans in O’Connor had received Federal Government funding.

Rick Wilson MP said Denmark RSL would receive $140,000.00 to upgrade the clubrooms and enhance the facilities provided for the local veteran community through the Veteran and Community Grants program.

“The Veteran and Community Grants program funds projects that will improve the quality of life for veterans in local communities,” Rick Wilson said.

“The Government funding for the Denmark RSL project is recognition of the important work they do in our community supporting veterans.

“These projects are an important way we honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who defend our nation and our values.

“Local organisations and projects can make a real difference in the veteran community and ensure veterans and their families receive services, support and opportunities that will allow them to continue active roles in their communities.

“I encourage ex-service and community organisations, veteran groups and private organisations that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community to apply for funding through the DVA Veteran and Community Grants program.”

For more information about the Veteran and Community Grants program or to apply visit the DVA website or contact your nearest DVA office on 133 254 or 1800 555 254 from regional Australia.

I was inspired to run for Parliament following my involvement in a decade-long campaign to deregulate the wheat industry, which brought about the end of the Australian Wheat Board’s monopoly.

“I stand proudly for the Liberal philosophy of free markets, vigorous competition, small government and individual responsibility. These are the principles that guide me in my life and in this place. My track record in public life shows clearly that I am prepared to stand up for those principles.”

“To the electors of O'Connor, I reiterate the commitment that I have made to work tirelessly on your behalf, to always be frank and honest about the challenges we face, and to work cooperatively and collaboratively to improve the lives of the people who live in the greatest part of the greatest nation on earth”
